Celebrity Dresses

So to tie-in with my recent features on celebrity wedding predictions, I have become slightly celeb wedding dress obsessed.  Ok, let’s not pretend, I have always been pretty celeb wedding dress obsessed.  I  wanted to share with you some of my favourites, some that have been in my wedding dress subconscious for some time and some that I spotted whilst trawling the web for inspiration.

Jenna Dewan married her co-star from Step Up, Channing Tatum, in July 2009 in this gorgeous dress by Reem Acra.  I think that Jenna looks like an absolutely princess in this strapless ‘feather effect’ dress.

Not strictly a real celebrity wedding – but I fell in love with the dress that Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson both wore Vera Wang in Bride Wars.  Both Vera Wang, both utterly stunning, and both completely different.  Kate’s dress slightly edges it for me because I think it has the classic Wang fairy-tale princess feel about it, but I do also adore the Anne Hathaway’s chic alternative.

After a secret wedding on Valentine’s day, Salma Hayek and her husband went the whole hog in April 2009 and held a more lavish ceremony for friends and family.  This stunning creation, by Nicholas Ghesquiere, was chosen for the occasion.  Again, I think it has the wonderful fairy-tale / Hollywood wedding feel to it (obviously) but I also love the beautiful detailing on the bodice of this dress.

Another 2009 wedding – as soon as I saw the dress that Denise Van Outen chose for her wedding dress, I loved it.  So it didn’t surprise me when I found out the gown was actually a Jenny Packham, one of my favourite designers.  I think the floaty style is perfectly suited to the Seychelles location.

Another dress that I love as soon as I saw it is Carly Zucker’s.  Oscar De La Renta, who designed the dress, would be my designer of choice if I won the lottery before I got married (there is still time, it’s not on the cards yet).  And this beautiful dress highlights exactly why – it is intricate, classy and very flattering.  Carly has opted for a stunning and classy dress choice, unlike some of her fellow WAGs (naming no names) and I think she pulls it off beautifully.

Again, not strictly a celebrity wedding dress, but I couldn’t do this feature without including the Sex and the City wedding dress by Vivienne Westwood.  It actually made me gasp in awe when I first watched the film.

And on the topic of Sarah Jessica Parker, this isn’t her wedding dress, but it perhaps should have been given her regrets over her black wedding gown.  It would certainly make an absolutely gorgeous bridal gown:

Admittedly she could have done with some better, erm, taping into the dress at the top but I think this Dior Haute Couture gown, which she wore to the 2009 Academy awards, is divine.

Next up is Avril Lavigne. I particularly love this dress because I think it is so different from the style I would have expected her to have, but I think that it suits her beautifully. Lavigne, married in 2006, wore a custom-made Vera Wang dress.

I seem to be highlighting a lot of Vera Wang brides, but here is another – Kate Beckinsale, who married Len Wiseman in this strapless Wang dress.  I actually have a bit of a girl crush on Beckinsale, which might have slightly swung this one, but I just love the wonderful simplicity of the dress.

So, that’s your lot.  Which are your favourites?  Are there any celebrity dress that I haven’t included here that you love?
