Wedding Dress Silhouettes - Which is right for you?

Ball Gown:

A floor-length "Cinderella" style gown with a big, full skirt fitted in the torso.

Effect: The full skirt emphasizes the waist and creates an hourglass figure. It creates curves but hides large hips and stomach. It can also be flattering to brides with narrow hips since it gives more of a curvy look. It is also great for brides with a large bust since with the full skirt it creates a more proportionate look.

A-line:

An A shaped dress that is slimmer at the bodice and widens from the bodice down.

Effect: One of the most popular styles, it is flattering to all heights, shapes and sizes. The A-line dress can disguise full hips, and elongate the silhouette to make the bride look taller and slimmer. It is also fitting for brides with broad shoulders.

Basque:

A U- or V-shaped waistline the is dropped a couple inches below the natural waistline.

Effect: A great silhouette for brides wanting to hide their tummies. The V- and U-shaped waistline elongates the torso and thus creates a slimming effect.

Empire:

A high-waist skirt with the bodice cropped just below the bust.

Effect: Enhances the upper body and creates an illusion of a larger bust. It conceals full hips and stomach. Best worn by petite brides or brides that have a pear shaped figures since it hides the bottom part of the body.

Mermaid:

Sometimes referred to as a "trumpet" skirt it is a slim, curve-hugging dress that follows the line of the waist, hips and thighs and flares out just at the knee or below.

Effect: The mermaid shape is very sexy and very fitted and as such it accentuates every curve of your body.
