Honeymoon and Travel Tips

Make your honeymoon as perfect as your wedding.

You don’t necessarily need to go the day of or after your wedding. These days many couples do something local and then when they can afford it, they go for their destination honeymoon.

Going a week or two before or after a destination’s peak season can save you up to 40%.

Check a couple travel agencies for price comparisons. You may end up finding a great deal.

Tell the travel agent you are looking for a honeymoon package. If they are good agents, they will give you great tips and offer you the best packages for the best prices.

In many hotels and resorts honeymooners get specials or upgrades.

Many companies buy hotel rooms, airline seats, and other trip elements that they combine into a trip package. These packages are a great way to save money and have everything taken care of in one swing.

Booking a non-stop flight may be more expensive but it will save you from a long and tiring trip.

Local restaurants are usually cheaper than hotel restaurants and can be a great way to explore the local area. Before venturing out of your hotel and resort, make sure the area is traveler safe.

Some travel agencies will have options for your guests to contribute to parts of your honeymoon.

There are ATMs all over Europe where you can use your credit card to get local currency as you need it. Make sure you have cash in your checking account because some ATMs will not let you take for the savings account.

Make all your reservations in your given names even if you are planning to change your name. Your passport will have your given name since you can’t apply for a passport with your married name until after the wedding.

Check in your province how long it takes to apply for your passport. It is a good idea to apply at least 4 to 6 weeks before your honeymoon. You may be able to apply for a rush passport but you may be required to show proof of your trip such as an airplane ticket or hotel reservation.

If you can’t afford a getaway honeymoon, you may try a local getaway. Take a tour of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Check out the history of Quebec City. Banff is a great place to relax and enjoy the scenery. Enjoy the great taste of wines and the beauty of the falls at Niagara Falls. British Columbia has breathtaking views and is great for skiing. Take the cross country train trip.

Keep track of your identification and passports. If they are lost or stolen, identify the authorities and keep a police report to help replace items. Carry only the cash you will need while away from the hotel. Almost every hotel and resort room has a deposit box that comes with a key. Use it to put all your identification and money in.
